About Me

Hi, my name is Kristine! I use she/her pronouns and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I currently live in Minneapolis, MN, but thanks to telehealth, I see folks in both Minnesota and Oregon. My journey to becoming a therapist began with my own process of healing and a strong belief in the importance of mental health support from a young age. Outside of my work as a therapist, I love to cuddle up with my two cats (see below), take on various creative projects, rock climb, bake, ride my bike, and spend time in nature.

I look forward to meeting you!

My Approach and Values

My approach to counseling starts with a belief that healing happens within a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental relationship. I enjoy collaborating with folks on issues like processing life transitions, anxiety, feelings of low self-worth, body image, perfectionism, relationship dynamics, and patterns of shame. My clients also tend to have a history of complex or developmental trauma and want to find relief from years of reliving old, painful patterns. Overall, my goal as a trauma-informed and person-centered therapist is to help you move through life in ways that feel more aligned with your deepest, embodied sense of self.

From a somatic (body-centered) perspective, I believe the body and the mind are intimately linked and I incorporate body awareness as a path towards greater self-awareness. When working with the body, I use trauma-informed approaches and I respect your past experiences, your body, and honor the pace at which you heal best. Rather than assuming that I’m the expert of your experience, I take an approach in which we work to uncover your body’s own inherent wisdom by making space for it’s natural ability to heal.

My work is also informed by a social justice oriented, feminist, and anti-oppression lens and I believe that the systems in which we are a part of impact all areas of our lives, inside and out. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming, sex positive, and I recognize the complexities of sexuality and identity. I am also body/size inclusive and believe in Health at Every Size (HAES).

Therapeutic Modalities:

At my foundation, I’m a somatic therapist and earned my masters degree in Body Psychotherapy and Dance/Movement Therapy at Naropa University in Boulder, CO.

I incorporate Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR) when treating trauma, stress, and other related mental health conditions which helps relieve underlying experiences that talk therapy alone cannot address. DBR is a groundbreaking approach designed to access the deep brain and body mechanisms of the trauma response leading to clinically-proven transformational shifts. DBR is also designed to be gentler and more efficient than other trauma treatments. Currently, I am trained in level two of DBR and plan on completing level three in December 2025.

I am also trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (SP), which is a somatic (body-based) approach to help heal trauma and attachment issues. SP is a holistic approach that includes somatic, emotional, and cognitive processing and integration.

My approach is relational at heart and also draws from parts work and attachment theory. As a practiced Buddhist meditator, I weave mindfulness throughout my work with clients.
